4A's annual streetcinema- Cinema Alley returns in 2012 with a lineup of video artwork from across Asia. This year's selection includes two channel (two screen) and single channel video works from artists from Australia and Asia.

Join in the festive spirit as 4A welcome in the Chinese New Year. This is an event not to be missed over the Sydney Summer.

What is Cinema Alley:

Our popular street cinema project presenting significant video work by contemporary Asian and Australian artist. Situated on Parker Street in the heart of Sydney’s vibrant Chinatown precinct, Cinema Alley engages culturally diverse audiences within the community to promote discussions relating to contemporary Asian and Asian-Australian art and culture. Held to coincide with the Chinese New Year celebrations of the Sydney calendar, Cinema Alley aims to enrich the local community with contemporary culture and celebrate Asian-Australian cultural identity.

Since its inception in 2009, this unique project has proven to be a popular event attracting new audiences to the contemporary visual arts, and to this date remains the only project of its kind undertaken within the Haymarket area.  It is the primary intention of Cinema Alley to continue engaging with as wide an audience as possible with the specific aim of generating discussions relating to contemporary Asian culture in the city.
